Fire-Protective Solutions
Vetrotech Glass Solutions for Fire-PROTECTIVE Applications
Fire-protective glass reduces this risk by preventing early glass breakage or melting in the passageways used for safe egress. This type of glass is free of embedded wires, which enhances its aesthetic appeal and allows for high light transmission.
Applications
Vetrotech fire-protective glass is an optimal choice for locations that require impact safety ratings such as: fire-rated doors, transoms, and sidelites.

Fire-Protective Glass Specifications and Applications
OVERVIEW
Fire-protective glass is engineered to maintain the structural integrity of buildings during a fire. It is rigorously tested in accordance with NFPA 80, NFPA 252, NFPA 257, UL9, and UL10C standards to ensure its effectiveness in compartmentalizing spaces and preventing the spread of flames, smoke and hot gases.
Performance Characteristics
While fire-protective glass excels at containing fire and smoke within designated areas, it does not provide protection against the transfer of radiant heat. Additionally, the use of fire-protective glass is limited to a maximum of 25% of the wall area in which it is installed.
Safety Ratings and Certifications
Vetrotech fire-protective glass solutions are listed with an impact safety rating according to ASTM Z97.1, CPSC 16CFR 120 CAT II, and CAN/CGSB – 12.1 M90 standards. These certifications confirm the glass’s ability to withstand impacts and meet stringent safety requirements.
Fire Rating Options
Fire-protective glass is available with 20-minute and 45-minute fire ratings. It is designed to symmetrically withstand high levels of thermal stress during a fire event.
